Performing Waltraute: Meyriane Héglon

Belgian mezzo-soprano Meyriane Héglon made her debut at the Opéra in Paris in 1890 as Maddalena in Rigoletto. Much like Delmas and Bréval, Hélgon was part of the cast of the 1893 production of La Valkyrie, singing the role of Waltraute for the first time on a Parisian stage. She made a small number of appearances abroad, going to Covent Garden in 1893, Zurich in 1903 and Monte Carlo in 1904, but spent most of her career in Paris. During her career she only made 4 recordings, all of which were made and marketed by the company G&T in 1904.
